Miniature gardens are modestly sized gardens with petite versions of well-known shrubs and perennials. They make an elegant attention-getter anywhere you use them.

Miniature plants have similar growing and caring requirements as full size plants with a few exceptions. While they are kept indoors, it is crucial to make sure that you pay attention to their specific needs.

Use quality soil for healthy plant growth: Soil is one of the major factors that affect the plant growth and its health.
*Just as plants have different temperature and light preferences, they also have varied soil requirements.
*Use potting soil for your containers which is a specific blend of perlite, compost and other nutrients to create a micro environment that works well with the plant's roots.

Group plants if feasible: Miniature plants are usually grown in smaller pots that dry out quickly.
*If you can, group them in larger plantings with good soil, rather than leaving them in smaller pots which makes them more exposed to drought and wind

Watch for heat exposure and sun burn: Most of the miniature plants are grown on window rims and indoors.
*Make sure that your miniature plants do not suffer from too much heat exposure or sunburn.
*Also, be careful if the plants are in smaller pots as they can dry out in few hours in a sunny window.

Keep an eye out for insect infestations: Miniature plants, due to their size, are quickly infested by insects, so make sure that you inspect them often and head off insects when first seen.
*An intermittent wash with water can help them, but don't leave the moist plants in a sunny window as the water droplets can target the sun and burn their leaves.
*Keep the infected plants away from the healthy ones. Take enough time to monitor the infected plants before putting them back with other plants.

Fertilize sparsely: Miniature plants usually have very limited growth and will not require additional fertilizer if planted in superior quality soil.
*If the plants are left in their original pots and soil, a dilute soluble fertilizer can be used once in a week.
*Care for the plants by removing dead and dying leaves, and prune off if necessary.

Adjust moisture holding and soil humidity properties: Moisture crystals can be added to the soil to keep the plants from constantly drying out.
*Adding these crystals will usually double the amount of water the soil holds and apparently increases the humidity level around the plant's roots.

Re-pot if necessary: Make sure that the plants have good soil and an adequate container size to grow.
*Re-pot them if necessary as miniatures don't have to stay in containers and they can be planted in full size gardens.
*So, look for a place to use these tiny wonders whenever possible.

Check the watering regime, light, temperature, and also look for bugs, or any strange looking thing in, underneath and around the plants and the container.
