UV light is ever-present but it's also dangerous and finding ways to filter it is important. Solar shades are one solution which can be applied not only at home but in offices as well.
Solar shades are similar to ordinary shades but with one difference: they have UV-filtering properties which block out ultraviolet light almost completely. In the process, heat is also kept at bay and so is too much daylight. There are other benefits as well which we'll be looking at.
Energy-savings
We're always looking at ways to cut back on energy consumption because the cost of power is just too high. By keeping UV light out, the interiors of your home don't have to be subjected to the accompanying heat so you can reduce the usage of the air conditioner. We're all aware of how expensive electricity has become so this is an easy way to control soaring bills.
Solar shades also do an excellent job of keeping out glare. Opaque designs with dark colors can be used if you don't want to let in too much daylight while sheerer models can be chosen for the opposite reason.
Choice of design
Solar shades have several designs, all of them great to look at and with the ability to add style to any room. There's the pleated design with neat pleats on the entire piece of fabric, there's the honeycomb design with a honeycomb-like structure to prevent heat transference, and there's the traditional solar shade with an unadorned surface. Each can cater to various style requirements so you can have a fancier honeycomb design for the bedroom, a plain one for the living room and a pleated shade for the dining room. There's really no limit to design options. The choice of colors also adds to the options.
Prevents fading
UV light is not only glaring but causes upholstery and furniture to fade in color as well. If left as is, they take on a dull hue over time and lose much of their appeal. Solar shades prevent this from happening so you can rest assured there won't be any need to add fresh coats of paint or have furniture reupholstered. Not unless you want to, of course.
Adds an interesting dimension to rooms
If you have interiors with not much texture or which are too plain, solar shades can provide a change. Even the plain varieties can if you pick a color that complements the room. Others like pleated and honeycomb designs are more noticeable and you can achieve very pleasing results even with duller colors.
Guarantees privacy
Unlike many other window treatments, shades are perfect if you crave privacy. You can't look in or out when they're closed. And, if you prefer the sheerer varieties that offer a glimpse of the outside world you can have them at a lower cost in the same design as boasted by solar shades.
Solar shades make functional, beautiful window treatments. They're easily available and can be used on most windows. If necessary, you can ask vendors to customize them to fit yours if they don't fall within the standard designs. It won't cost a lot and you'll be able to enjoy shades with everything they have to offer.
