Most semi di cannabis growers as well as users are well aware that there are two main varieties of the cannabis plant. One is Indica and the other is Sativa. In fact there are thousands of marijuana strains today; but these are merely hybrids which are a result of different cross breeds between these two mother strains!
But not many people may really be familiar with the differences between these two popular strains of the cannabis plant.
Well, to begin with, there are evident physical differences between the two varieties. Indica plants tend to grow short and wide with fat, dark green leaves and thick, dense buds. This short and quick growth makes them ideally suited for indoor cultivation.
On the other hand, Sativa semi di cannabis grows into tall and thin plants (even ranging as high as 20 to over 25 feet) with distinctly narrower leaves that are lighter green in color. The plants grow quickly but take a longer time to mature. It follows that as Sativa strains require more light, they have to be grown outdoors only.
Delving further deeper, distinct differences in potency and aroma become obvious as well. Generally speaking, Sativa strains are considerably more potent than Indica. But Indica will give you much more yield than Sativa.
Additionally, the effects of the two strains tend to vary greatly to boot! For instance, it is widely believed that consumption of cannabis Indica induces a deep feeling of sheer relaxation and is bound to make you sleepy and dull. This is due to the fact that Indica plants tend to have higher concentration of CBD than THC levels. And because of this laidback feeling, buds of the Indica plant are deemed perfect for treating different medical problems like general anxiety or stress, intense body pain, frequent headaches and migraines as well as sleeping disorders like insomnia.
In direct contrast, people prefer to consume cannabis Sativa when they are looking for that energetic high that will uplift both your body and mind. In fact, some even swear that the stimulating Sativa plant can spark brain activity leading to an unprecedented flow of creative ideas and innovation! Accordingly, it is primarily used to increase focus and creativity, generate feeling of wellbeing, treat nausea and even to counteract depression. Sativa buds can stimulate the appetite, but care should be taken as it may even lead to hallucinations at times.
But it should be kept in mind that the different hybrid strains of both Indica and Sativa plants will grow and mature in varied ways and their resultant effects are bound to vary as well. Therefore, the different hybrid strains of semi di cannabis are used to treat different conditions and symptoms.
To sum up, Indica and Sativa strains of the cannabis plant have some stark variations. While Indica is favored for night time consumption, Sativa seems suitable for the waking hours of the day!
