Seed starting is a fast growing hobby. As the hobby of seed starting has grown so too has the amount and quality of products that are available. There are almost so many seed starting supplies available now that it can become overwhelming to try and pick the right product for your individual needs.

This is the time of the year that I really start to get excited about seed starting. I enjoy gardening and have become increasingly interested in the hobby of seed starting. Starting your own seeds gives you more control and allows to begin your hobby earlier than nature intended. I have also found that seeds that you start yourself tend to be healthier than store bought plants.

There are numerous ways that you can start your own seeds. The method that I prefer and find most successful is to start my seeds in a biodome type unit. This allows you to control the humidity level inside of the unit. They also are small enough where they can easily be kept indoors which allows you to start your seeds earlier than normal. Also once you have a biodome it can be used year after year all you have to do is buy replacement sponges to start your seeds in.

Once your seeds have germinated in the biodome unit I like to move them into larger pots where their roots have room to continue growing. This will allow the plants to remain healthy and to establish a solid root system. Once the plants are big enough to be transplanted into a larger pot I like to move them into an outdoor greenhouse. Keeping the plants in a greenhouse allows you to keep them warm and in an environment where they will continue to grow and develop. Home greenhouses have come a long way, there are numerous styles and varieties offered today at an affordable price.

Now, once the weather is suitable for your plants to be placed into the garden, you will be a step ahead of the curve. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised what a difference you will see in your plants and your garden as a whole if you start your own seeds. The plants will take off much faster than you are accustomed and will produce quicker and more plentiful than ever before and it will be even more rewarding because instead of buying your plants at the store you grew them from a seed.
