A lot of people ask why they should grow herbs. Well the answer to that question is that there are many answers. First of all it saves you money than to buy them. That抯 a pretty big reason in itself because many people don抰 realise the beauty of herbs due to not buying them. And the reason for not buying them is because people think it is too expensive, which is true. I would agree with that. A couple of pounds for a couple of leaves? don抰 think so.
Another reason to grow them is because it can be tranquil, add colour to the house or garden depending on weather you are growing them indoors or not and the main reason, because it will make your food taste awesome. It will blow the competition away with regarding dinner parties, as I said before, herbs are greatly underestimated.
Now there are the people who like the idea of growing herbs but think they cant or think it will be a lot of work. Many stumble across the questions of what do I grow and where, many or a lot et cetera. That is completely up to you. Try all options and see what you prefer.
As well as that, many individuals think it can take up a lot of space, well that doesn抰 necessarily have to be true. You could grow them on window pots, outside in smaller pots or even have a wee stash in your spare room beside the window. If you like a certain type of herb the best, then grow more of that. I personally grow a lot of herbs as I like experimenting with different types during different variations of cooking to see what magic I can come up with.
If your nervous about doing the entire procedure, try only the herbs you like because whenever you use your first growth in your own cooking, that抯 when the addiction starts in. You have created your own organic flavours in the space of your own home and saved a lot of money. You will be that chuffed that you will indeed grow more and that is guaranteed.
If your on the other end of the spectrum and grow loads of herbs and don抰 know what to do with them. Simply sell them to your friends and family on the cheap or even dry them out so that you will have a range of fresh and dried herbs. The possibilities are endless with what you can do.
The most important reason is for the cooking, you will have the best cooking your friends will have tasted and give you that chefs credit.
More reasons to grow herbs for me personally would be to make things like pesto抯 and sauces. This is where the endless possibilities really kick in as there are so many types of pesto you could make using different herbs along with olives and vegetables et cetera, then you could really start selling your own branded products. Or maybe you like a good mint cocktail that you see drink expensively in a bar. Well at home, that same cocktail would be as cheap as chips.
