- Inserting a new glass:
- Apply a heavy coat of linseed oil to the wood around the frame. Let the oil soak in completely. The linseed oil makes the new putty remain pliable and have a strong bond as well with the new glass
- Now, apply a thin layer of the new putty which can act as a cushion for the new glass to be inserted in. It also acts as a sealant, preventing water sea page.
- Now, the new glass is ready to be fixed on to the frame
- Hold the glass firmly and apply enough number of glaziers point to ensure that the glass stands firmly in the firm
- Use the glazing tool to drive the glaziers point into the frame
- Now, it's time to apply the putty all along the frame. Ensure that the putty is not too stiff. If it is, soften it a little bit by using a thinner.
- Now, even out the putty applied on the frame by using a sandpaper to eliminate any rough spots
