The day has come that you are deciding to purchase your first lawn mower. This is a wonderful day for the homeowner that wants their yard to look its absolute best and finding that perfect mower is something you should never rush into.
There are so many different versions and styles of lawn mowers out there that you might find it a bit daunting to get the one that will work for you and your yard. Don't worry, though; there are a few guidelines that will make finding that mower a breeze.
The first thing you need to do is determine the size of your yard. If you have a large house that sits on multiple acres of land, you probably aren't going to want to get a push mower. This would be way too much walking unless you really like that much exercise. You would probably do a lot better with a large zero turn mower or riding mower that has a larger cutting deck size. Something around the 56 to 60 inch cut would do very well for these types of large yards.
If your yard is just a small back patio sized piece of land, you should completely toss out the idea of buying a huge riding lawn mower. Although it might only take you 5 minutes to mow the yard, it could take you 15 minutes just to get the monster mower turned around for each pass.
Smaller yards require smaller mowers; you could even get one of those robotic mowers if your yard is small enough. If your yard is at the in-between stage, then you have a whole wide range of mowers to choose from that will make your yard maintenance a piece of cake.
The other thing you should think about is the price of the machine you are looking to purchase. While the large commercial grade zero turn mowers are great at keeping your yard looking professionally maintained, the price tag that goes along with it could end up being a small fortune for some people. You have to decide on the amount of money you can afford to purchase the lawn mower that you find is perfect for you and your needs.
