Before I discuss shed blueprints, I first have to describe how they came about. As a disclaimer, finding more room is actually the subject of this article. Our home is very spacious, but that space isn't managed well. We have basically two living rooms, which seems silly because one of those living rooms can be turned into two bedrooms. The first option we considered was closing in one of those living rooms, and turning it into another room. There's problems with this approach though. First, we'd be loosing entertainment space, which we both decided we really wanted, second, there would be no way to do the job in a way that makes the current layout of the house look right. So it was an option, but not a very good one. Building onto the house was one of the other options we were looking at that had the downside of being a bit expensive. That would mean that we'd have to add on to the roof as well, which might look strange with newer shingles that don't exactly match up. There was a penalty to all that extra space though: We'd have to heat it, cool it, clean it, and keep it well maintained. One big positive is that we could add things into that square footage like another bathroom or other items, but that'd be another expense. We realized though that it might be too much of a disruption. Once we realized though that we'd have to live with our current master bedroom exposed to an unfinished portion of the rest of the home for a period of time, we decided against it. Although it was a stressful option, it was still an option. At that point we weren't terribly thrilled with our options, and that was about when we visited with some friends of ours. Actually we didn't really discuss this particular topic, but they were talking about a project they were working on. They needed a place for their riding lawnmower and other stuff, so they built a shed in their back yard. At this point I was loosing myself in thought and came up with an idea. What we needed was a cottage! We could effectively add room to our home, without actually adding on to our home. Question after question, the more answers I got back from them the more it made me realize this was the best option. The most caveat though, according to the husband is that shed blueprints are a must, and he showed me where to find them (some for free). One thing to note is that even though it's for shed blueprints, there is also plans for cottages there too.
