Ants are nature’s way of vacuum cleaning the soil of fungus and garden detritus hat would otherwise be bad for the growth of plants. They do their job in an organized way and are very hard-working social insects.

But they are good as long as they stay away from your house. If you find ants in your house; especially in kitchen counters, you don’t like the sight of these hard-working insects. But killing them with harsh chemicals and pesticides will only do you harm if there are children and pets in the house.

There are many natural ant control methods to get rid of ants.

• Chalk is a very effective ant repellant. You can draw lines of chalk around the windows and entry points. Ants won’t cross them. They will automatically disburse and keep from entering your house.
• Make a mixture of tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract with water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray on the ant trails and holes.
• If ants are attacking your plants then place any cooking oil on the base of the plant.
• If you want to attack a ant colony, place grits on them. They are hard to digest and bloat the ants and kill them.
• You can keep them off kitchen counters by spraying a 50-50 vinegar and water solution on the countertop.
• Dust baby powder or talc on the ants. They’ll disburse and eventually die.
• Another natural ant control and rather a spicy herbal food for the ants would be cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf, chili pepper and hot curry paste and black pepper. They certainly keep the ants away. Just put them on their trail.
• You can spray soap detergent and water mixture on ant areas. Peppermint sprayed around the edges of your house or entry points will keep them from entering your home. You can also grow peppermint or other mints in your plantation to avoid ants from destroying your plants.
• Corn meal, wheat cereal, rice flour are some of the natural ant control food that swells in their stomach and kills them.

Some of these natural ant control methods with work better than others. But now that you have so many natural options to get rid of ants, something will surely work out for you. Getting rid of ants is an ongoing battle. You need to be persistent to get your message across to them so good luck!
