Mulch is one of the most useful materials that gardeners, landscapers and farmers use. It has several uses and applications. Some of them very specific and require a certain type of mulch. These applications can be practical, productive or aesthetic. Because of these, there are several manufacturers of mulch, and while a few of them offer different types of mulch, there isn’t one single manufacturer that produces every type of mulch available.
Among all the types of mulch available, bulk rubber mulch is one of the most versatile ones and it’s appreciated by a lot of gardeners and landscapers. It isn’t really used in farming, where other types of non organic mulch are preferred, like plastic mulch.
When you buy bulk rubber mulch, you’re helping the environment in the sense that you’re getting mulch that is made from recycled and used tires that would otherwise end up as garbage. These tires had reached the end of their useful life and have had their steel bands removed. Then, the rubber is made into either buffings or nuggets, both of which perform the same so getting one over the other is just a matter of personal preference. Just remember to dispose of you bulk rubber mulch properly when you’re done with it, as then it would become garbage or a pollutant.
Bulk rubber mulch, unlike organic mulch, doesn’t degrade and break down with time. This results in a much minor frequency of replacement. Not having to replace it as often is an advantage for those who don’t have as much free time as they’d like to tend to their gardens and can’t afford to pay a gardener to take care of them.
While not being able to become part of the soil, rubber mulch has other advantages that make up for it. For example, it is better at insulating, and insects can’t nest in bulk rubber mulch. It is also very effective at blocking weed growth.
Finally, bulk rubber mulch has a very dark grey, almost black look. It can also be mixed or died in order to get other colors, such as green and brown. Depending on the taste of the landscaper, bulk rubber mulch can be used to mark paths or areas in a garden, yard, or playground. In fact, because rubber is somewhat elastic, bulk rubber mulch tends to be used in areas where children may fall. For example, in playground areas where there is playground equipment that children can climb. The elasticity of bulk rubber mulch softens impacts, making it safer for children.
