The Koi pond net can be used in a number of different situations, but more than anything you are going to need to use a Koi pond net when you want to protect your valuable fish from unwanted predators such as the blue heron and cats, if you have any of these roaming around your home. You can get a net that looks quite nice and can keep it up all year round if you like, especially if you live in a warmer climate where there are almost constantly going to be predators such as these around.
Remember that your fish are even susceptible to these predators as the weather gets colder, so never take this for granted. In fact, fish tend to swim much slower in colder weather and so if anything it is going to be even easier for predators to get them in the cooler months.
Now with the Koi pond net you are able to give the Koi fish protection, but will still be able to see them swimming around and can lift up the net a bit when you go to feed them.
Then there is another type of Koi pond net that you want to be interested in as well, and which is used to skim the top of the Koi pond so that unwanted duckweed, waste from the fish, and other debris such as filamentous algae that float on the top of the water will be removed. You want to keep the water that your Koi are swimming in as clean as you possibly can at all times.
The Koi pond net is therefore very important but there are other pieces of Koi pond equipment and supplies as well that you are going to need to have around for these pond fish.
You are going to want to have a pond aerator for one. This is essential to have for good pond health, and by having the correct size and type of aerator in your Koi fish pond, the pond will be oxygenated from the bottom of the pond all the way up to the top and the fish will therefore be able to breathe better and will always have the freshest, cleanest water at all times.
Even during the colder months you will want to keep an aerator going in the pond, because it will allow for oxygen for your valuable fish in the pond.
