Award show season is here We have the Golden Globes, Oscars and Grammy Awards, but did you know that Dave's Garden has awards too? Each year we announce the Top 5 companies in each Garden Watchdog category. The vendors anxiously await the results and a Top 5 badge is as coveted as any golden statue. This article spotlights the best of our best and we hope you'll take the time to check out these great vendors.
The Garden Watchdog Top 5 is an annual award where we honor the winners by placing the Top 5 badge on their listings. Many of these vendors are often small, specialty operations owned by individuals who are passionate about their favorite plant, seed, or garden accessory. They may not enjoy the large volume of sales that is required to make it into the Top 30, but their great customer service and love for their product creates many loyal customers. These rankings are based on customer reviews for the past year, so these awards are for feedback posted in 2014. Only those vendors who had feedback posted in 2014 are eligible for the award.
Mail order gardening should be a great experience and these vendors help make it so. I've personally had trees shipped across the country that arrived without a leaf out of place and vendors like these are responsible for my wonderful plants, seeds, containers and books.
The Garden Watchdog exists to help gardeners choose vendors and we encourage positive reviews. Many shoppers feel the need to warn others of bad experiences, however, it is just as important to let fellow gardeners know which businesses give great service as well. By posting positive reviews, others can learn from the experience and the vendors get a virtual 'pat on the back' since we notify them each time a review is posted. This year, we have a multi-national group with Top 5 vendors from the USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Puerto Rico, Australia and United Kingdom, so gardeners around the world have taken time to let others know where they love to shop.
If your favorite vendor isn't listed, make sure that you post a review this season so that they can be listed next year. Our vendors really love this award and anxiously await the Top 5 badges, so please reward your favorite vendors each time you receive good service. Your review might just make the difference between a vendor being listed or not.
