This is a noble plant for streamside, pond edge, or along a woodland margin. These large plants boast bold, handsome foliage and lend great charm to the landscape.
Light/Watering: Plant in partial shade in moist soil. They will sulk if allowed to dry out, especially June through August. Plants will grow in full sun in wet soil, but they wilt no matter how damp the soil is, recovering at day's end.
Fertilizer/Soil: Ligularia grows well in compost-enriched soil. They benefit from a generous layer of organic mulch applied in spring.
Pests and Diseases: No serious pests or diseases, but may need to control slugs and snails.
Companions: These are excellent companions for large-leaved Hostas.
