2012: International Year of Cooperatives

Urban Roots, along with other Buffalo Cooperatives, was proud to receive proclamations from both the City of Buffalo Common Council and the Erie County Legislature recognizing 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives.
Both proclamations are special in that they recognize the importance and value of Cooperative businesses in Buffalo. The cooperative principles of democracy and social responsibility along with the mission to strive to meet members needs not maximizing profits for a few allows us to reinvest locally thus making our community stronger. The Cooperative business model is a unique asset serving it’s community in important and diverse ways. There are over a dozen Co-Ops in the WNY area. Please support these businesses when ever you can.
