Transition to Winter

As fall heads towards winter, we make our gardens ready.  A workshop on Saturday October 29 at 10:00 am will discuss the checklist of tasks, chores and possibilities this season brings.  We will also look ahead at ways we might make our gardens look their best, even in the snow and cold, including plant suggestions for winter interest.

Presented by Liz Lipsitz, on the staff at Urban Roots since the doors opened on Rhode Island St. in 2007. She has 20+ years experience as a gardener, and is passionate about growing flowers, perennials, shrubs and trees in a naturalistic style. Sometimes she thinks of her garden as a big science experiment: She loves to observe plant behaviors and interactions, to create habitat for insects, birds and other wildlife, as well as for people. In addition to her own gardening adventure, she has worked as a gardener for others, a garden designer and consultant, a teacher of gardening for adults and for children (“Tot Botany”), and a community volunteer gardener and consultant. One of her current hobbies is visiting gardens, garden centers and Botanical sites all over the United States.
