Asters “Woods Pink” and “Woods Blue” – a more diminutive plant, perfect for small spaces or containers
Chelone (turtlehead) “Hot Lips” – an outstanding late summer perennial with candy pink blooms atop sturdy glossy green foliage
Shrubs
Fothergilla – a beautiful native shrub with creamy white bottlebrush blooms and eyepopping color…soft green to red to purple
Euonymous alata (Burning Bush) – always a go to plant for fall color in the most vivid of reds
Oakleaf hydrangea – this has been a great hydrangea year; the oakleaf is a fall showstopper!
Small Trees
Stewartia pseudocamelia – presented now for its fabulous fall foliage, it is also an exquisite bloomer in early summer
Amelanchier (Serviceberry) – another colorful performer in late season, it offers white flowers in early spring, berries in summer
Japanese Maples, “Bloodgood” and “Fireglow” – red foliage brightens boldly in fall
