Plant swaps go way back for Urban Roots, to the years before we opened the doors of the Garden Center on Rhode Island.  They played a role in building the network of interest and support that enabled us to make Urban Roots a reality.  We are proud and pleased to continue this tradition.

As your perennial plants begin to come up this beautiful spring, you may find that you need to thin out some established clumps, or you may find that some plants have spread beyond the spaces where you want them.  Maybe there is something you really love and simply want to share.  Whatever the reason, go ahead and dig up a bit this spring.  Please pot it up, or bag it up (good way to recycle a plastic bag, if you haven’t got a pot.)  Clearly written labels and any other info on the plant is always greatly appreciated, or if you aren’t sure we can help with identification at Urban Roots.

Bring any plants that you can’t use down to UR and they will no doubt find a good home in someone else’s garden.  If you have spaces you want to fill, there may be just the plant you are looking for being offered at the plant swap.  All plants are free, and you do not have to bring something to take something.  So come on down!
