On Sunday, September 13, a dozen of us from Urban Roots piled into cars and took a drive out to Ancestral Acres farm, where we spent a delightful couple of hours with Bill and Martha Johnson. They showed us their breathtaking fields of blooming flowers and also the pumpkins, gourds and squash still ripening on the vines. The flowers are harvested and hung in bunches to dry in the barn. Martha is a talented floral artist who makes a variety of creations from the dried flowers, grasses and even a few weeds! We were fortunate to have a beautiful day to visit the farm and a good time was had by all.
In addition, we brought back a limited quantity of Martha Johnson’s Floral Creations from Ancestral Acres to sell at Urban Roots. They include a few wreaths, lavender wands, lavender bunches and centerpieces.
