The use of LED grow light may not be familiar to engineers, electricians or anyone who is in a similar field. I had taken some electronics classes during college but also have no idea that LED will be great for raising hydroponics plants indoors. So out of curiosity, I did some research and started writing about hydroponics and LED grow light.
What I learned about LED grow light was simply impressive.
• Aside from being energy-efficient, such type of grow lights is considered as one of the brilliant power saving options.
• The light released is just of right amount that plants will need to grow well.
• Not much heat is emitted so your plants are safe from getting burned up.
• It's a noise-free lighting system so the plants aren't disturbed or stressed.
However, there are several other grow lights available in the market which should be put into consideration because the appropriate one can vary on the hydroponic kit being utilized and the plant varieties being grown. The entire system may need a different type of grow lights and it will only be a waste of money when poor decisions are made. For your reference, there are various lighting products that can be utilised other than LED grow light.
• These can include Germinators, Vertizontal Systems and Supersun Reflector Systems.
• Some of these do not use LED but can work all right. They might use HP sodium, metal halide, fluorescent and many more. Some also include replacement bulbs, upgrades along with accessories, and there are ones that are identified as light movers.
HPS and metal halide lighting produce almost the same spectrums with LED grow light but can just be effective in some plant varieties. HPS or high pressure sodium lighting is most useful for raising tomatoes, peppers and flowers. It will promote larger and much more abundant blooms with longer stems. Metal halide lighting, on the contrary, is most useful for growing greens like lettuce, basil and parsley to promote compact stem and leaf production.
• One more factor to consider will be the wattage. Regardless of which grow lights are utilized, the system should be able to provide as much needed energy to the plants and the value depends on how big is the garden. 250W is most suitable for a 2' x 3' garden and 1000W if it is a 4' x 6' garden.
The fact remains that LED grow lights is an option that can optimize plant growth but there's so much more to learn specially when it comes to the happiness of our plants. Lighting is just one factor, the growing medium, essential elements and nutrient solution should also be explored. Researching further can show many more ideas and expand our understanding about LED grow light and the other various lighting products and anyone can become a hydroponic gardener instantly with determination and extra effort.
