Choosing the right pot for your flower arrangements, plants, or trees is just as important as choosing the right picture frame for your artwork. Based on the styles and types of greenery you use, one pot may work well for your plant while another one does not compliment it at all. One example is the bonsai plant: look for a pot with warm, rich colors and an Eastern style. On the other hand, with a bamboo plant the pot should have a more modern design or perhaps use a wicker material. Make sure to do some shopping around before you settle on a design, since there are many options available to you! Another quality to play around with is how big of a container you want. Some arrangements are arranged around a very large decorated pot, and in other arrangements the pot is barely visible.
Customizing Your Flower Designs
When you design with flowers, one of your objectives is to make the arrangement work with the space it belongs to. Flower arrangements should be designed based on their purpose. Tulips, daisies, and other soft flowers are thoughtful choices for a funeral arrangement. Silk grasses, unusual and bright flowers, and topiary designs are great if the arrangement is meant to be a housewarming gift or a get better soon arrangement. If you would like something more traditional or amorous, roses are a natural choice. Always keep the recipient in mind as you design floral arrangements. When it comes to flowers, colors, and styles, think about what they would want. If it doesn’t look right the first time, just try again. It is especially easy if you are using silk flowers, since you can mix and match all you want without damaging the flowers.
Thoughts on Rearranging My Home
Every time I find myself in a craft store poring over the new selections, I begin again to think that if only I had this item or that decorative craft, then my house would look perfect. This mode of thought not only leaves me constantly wanting for the next available item but also leaves my wallet empty. In all reality, that new exciting purchase may be the first thing I add to my next garage sale list. I have been surprised to discover that rearranging my furniture and decorations is often more satisfying"and flattering"than adding something new. Some simple rearranging of my furniture, pictures, and knickknacks spruces up my life at home and gives me that fresh home decor feel. It is the best of both worlds: I get the experience of interior decorating, and my bank account balance doesn’t go down a penny!
Decorating with Ferns
When incorporating plants and other greenery into your home, there are two ways to go about the process. You can find some beautiful greenery, bring it home, and play around with your furniture layout so that your plant has adequate room and a natural resting place. The second method is to arrange the house they way you want it, and then look for the right sized plants to fill in the spaces. Either way, if you do not have a huge amount of room but you want an adequate amount of greenery, using ferns is a good choice. Ferns are great in tight spaces because their leaves are quite narrow and grow into whatever area that you please. There is a wide variety of live and artificial ferns. Ferns are pretty resilient, and are fairly easy to care for and maintain. Even more easy to maintain and care for are silk plants. Ferns work better as background plants than centerpieces, but still ad a nice touch. One great idea is to have a display of several ferns (perhaps along a table or a window sill) with a flower arrangement as the focal point.
