Decorating with Silk Tulips
One of the best loved silk flower varieties is the tulip. A tulip is easily recognized by its petals and design. Tulips are a great flower to use for almost any decorative need. They are dissimilar to many other popular flowers in that they do not have any sort of stigma that consigns them to a certain holiday or time of year. For example, roses are more commonly known as a romantic, Valentines, or Mother's Day flower. Because of their long slender design, tulips require very little space to occupy and to beautify. Tulips are wonderful for flower arrangements: they look lovely by themselves, and they add color and charm, without being overbearing, in more diverse arrangements.
Making Your Workplace A Little More Green
Does your workspace make you feel like you are stuck behind bars? Empty, pasty walls and a desk with nothing but computer equipment and papers do little to break up the monotony of the day. Can you see the creativity being squelched? Believe it or not, it doesn’t take much to revamp all this dullness into something more inviting and invigorating. Adding a large tree to your office instantly adds detail, life, and color. Many offices have put in silk trees because most of their conference rooms or offices do not have natural lighting available. You can further promote this nature-like atmosphere by adding a few small plants or flowers and a desktop fountain. It is surprising how much these little things can change the mood of your business and give your work area a more natural uplifting feeling to get you through the day!
Decorating with Ferns
There are two distinct ways of decorating with greenery. The first thought is to find some decorative plants you love and then rearrange any spaces you want to use to accommodate those plants. The second method is to arrange the house they way you want it, and then look for the right sized plants to fill in the spaces. Ferns are a great way to add nature into a room without taking too much space. Ferns are great in tight spaces because their leaves are quite narrow and grow into whatever area that you please. You can find a great selection of ferns, both real and silk. A great benefit of live ferns is that they are hardy and will do well in a variety of settings. Even more easy to maintain and care for are silk plants. Be aware that when you choose a fern, you are not selecting a very colorful or eye-catching plant, though it still makes a lovely accent. Using a flower display in tandem with a few ferns can have a very attractive effect.
Drying and Preserving Flowers: The Basics
Drying flowers after special occasions like weddings, graduations, or other fun events is a great way to preserve memories. Because flowers wilt within 2 to 3 weeks (and sometimes closer to 2 to 3 days), you will need to dry them once they are done being displayed. There are two very simple and basic ways to dry flowers. One way is to attach a string around your flowers and hang them upside down until they have dried completely. Make sure the place you dry your flowers is not too warm, has little light, and stays dry. Also, dried flowers are very fragile, so to prevent damage we recommend placing them in a case or shadowbox. Another great technique for preserving a flower is to press it"but keep in mind that the end product will be flat. Since this process does not work very well with bigger or rounder flowers, consider pressing the flower’s petals rather than the whole flower; with small, delicate flowers, pressing yields very pretty results.
