5 Wild Flowers In The UK

A wild flower can be found in the wild but not necessarily and some are also farmed. It is not a hybrid like many flowers, and it exists in the UK and can be hunted and spotted in it's natural habitat. Native species is a more accurate label but many have been brought from other countries, either deliberately or by mere accident.

Wild flowers offer a great deal of personality and reputation to any garden or domestic situation, finding it easy to settle, exuding both beauty and life. They can also to be naturally be located in any good florist's as they represent ideal and unique gifts. What follows is a few ideas to set you on the path.

Foxglove are a lengthy flower containing a purplish, pink or white cone. Increasingly sophisticated and seductive it is very attractive to wildlife. In the wild foxglove grows predominantly in woodland, and therefore it is easy to find a place for it in shrubbery and developed garden borders. Foxglove are a welcome presence in many arrangements.

Rich in symbolism on a huge scale and given much resonance by historic events, poppies in Greco Roman myth stand for eternal sleep and resurrection after death. Often found in their natural habitat on crops in farmland, these poignant flowers are rich in the depth that their presence seems to bring, and a fine addition to most rooms and gardens.

The Primrose is thought to be one of the first flowering plants in much of Europe. The word primrose translates as ?first rose? if you trace its routes. In it's natural habitat the primrose is found in woodland, hedgerows and more impressively, high up on sea cliffs, no less. The primrose is a radiant and romantic bloom with added mystical elements.

Flag Iris is a strong and sturdy flower with added longevity existing in its natural habitat near ponds and rivers. This flower can tolerate sumersion and it likes it's roots to be in water. The flag iris is found all over the UK in abundance.

Cornflower is found in Europe growing as a form of weed in crop fields, hence its name. Sadly the cornflower has now become endangered in the wild owing to modern farming practices. The flower itself is a stunning, warm blue coloured, very nectar rich bloom, great for both honey bees and bumble bees.

All of these flowers have much to offer in what they can do to an occasion, or to a room as presentation is also important.
