Decorative ferns are plants that do not require special room to grow and develop, being one of the most popular houseplants. Not pretentious, they bring a distinctive charm to the room that inspire and can turn a dull space into a lively one. They can successfully adorn both a living room, an office and a room or bathroom as well.
Moreover, history demonstrates that these plants are among the first cormofit ferns (plants with body differentiated in roots, stems and leaves) that appeared on earth. There are several species of fern coming mostly from South America, India, Malaysia. Usually, most ferns do well in terms of room, but need a moist place than other plants so you should take care of this detail.
There is almost no person in the whole world, who is not familiar with the appearance of the plant. Nephrolepis fern presents the appearance of a bush, with long leaves (between 50-100 inches), curved, straight or wavy or a dark green. The leaves are very fragile and they need special care.
Maybe you are asking yourself what you should know about the place needed by a fern. You must know that fern is a plant that appreciates a healthy environment, because it is extremely sensitive to cigarette smoke, to the toxic or excessively dry air. The main quality of fern is that it ionizes the air auditorium, and makes it more pure and full of oxygen. So a room full of ferns is definitely a clean and oxygenated one.
Fern grows well in places like rooms, but they really should avoid exposure to sunlight and cold drafts. Watering will also be abundant, especially in summer season when temperatures register higher values. Humidity should be kept constant during summer and winter, and the plant should be watered whenever needed (summer-day, two to three times a day in winter – a period of several days) to ensure moisture to the earth. Fern is growing in a harmonious atmosphere with relative humidity above 60-70%. When the humidity of the atmosphere is below 40%, the fern gets dry.
On very hot days, in order to avoid leaf yellowing you can try to spray over the foliage. Thus, the water kept at room temperature is sprayed on the leaves three or four times a week. If the soil is very dry and the plant has been watered recently, add water to the top of the pot, leaving it until soil is wet enough.
