Once a few weeks have passed, these annual plants will bloom again, and provide a nice variation in color compared to their brown surroundings. Pre-soak seeds overnight in a dark place. Put a few seeds in a small container and fill it near to the top with water. This hydrates your seeds and jump-starts their growth. This improves the chances of successful plant development.

If you want your garden to sport flowers in the spring as well as summer, plant bulbs. A hardy perennial addition to your garden, bulbs will continue to delight every year. Remember that different bulbs will bloom at all different times of the year, so if you are careful to choose the right bulbs, you will see blooms in the early spring, and have flowers all the way to late summer.

If you want to draw advantageous insects to your garden, plant some heather. Heather will attract bees early in the spring as well as other beneficial insects. Heather doesn't usually require a lot of tending, so spiders, ground beetles and other good bugs like to call it home. For this reason, you should always remember to put on your gardening gloves when tending to your heather.

Houseplants can be finicky. Some like to be re-potted, others hate it because it disturbs their roots. It's simple to check the plants that need re-potted. Simply turn them upside down and tap their container until you notice the plant falling out willingly. If you see a tangle of roots, the plant must be replaced. You do not have to transfer the plant to a new pot if you are not seeing any roots, or just a few.
