If you want to cover up your walls or fences, make sure that you specifically use climbing plants. Many climbers are so robust that they can cover an unattractive wall or fence in a single growing season. They can cover an arbor, or grow through trees and shrubs. Some must be tied onto a support, but a number of climbers attach to surfaces with twining stems or tendrils. There are many varieties you can choose from. Honeysuckle, climbing roses and jasmine are among the best.

You do not need store-bought chemical treatments for plant mildew. Mix some baking soda and a very small amount of liquid soap into water. Spray this on the plants once per week until that mildew goes away. Baking soda treats the mildew effectively and gently and it won't damage your plants.

Aerate and dry your plants each day. Damp leaves can lead to plant disease and parasites. Fungi commonly afflict a number of plants. Proactively treat fungi through the use of fungicidal sprays and treatments.

Protect your delicate shrubs from harsh, wintry elements. Delicate shrubs that are sitting in pots should be sheltered from the cold weather. Tie the canes together, and drape a sheet or blanket over the top of the wigwam. Using fabric, rather than plastic, allows air circulation and prevents rotting from moisture build up.

A set of knee pads is a great investment if your garden has a lot of low-growing plants. gardening is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable; you don't want to finish every gardening session with aching, throbbing knees. Purchase a great pair of knee pads; they will provide a cushion for your knees while making plants for gardening more comfortable.

Wisely water your garden. A soaker hose will save you time because you won't have to individually water each plant, like you do with a regular nozzle, or a can that you need to constantly refill. Keeping the water pressure low on your soaking hose will help avoid harm to tender plants. Allow the soaker to stay on for a few hours, so your plants can receive water while you tend to other tasks.

If you are just getting into gardening, make sure you heed all of the directions on fertilizer and chemical labels. If you use your gardening chemicals wrong, you can abrade or even burn your skin. Stick to the rules and safeguard your health.
