Many different types of seeds can be planted in the fall. Black-eyed susans, daisies, pansies, snapdragons, poppies, and bachelor buttons are just to name a few.
Plant garlic in the fall, as it loves the winter. Garlic is not difficult to grow as it’s not very vulnerable to pests. The very cold winter makes the garlic even more concentrated and flavorful. The more snow cover, the better. You don’t plant garlic from seed, but from a garlic clove. One garlic clove grows into one garlic bulb. The garlic bulb will grow underground, a lot like an onion.
Trees or shrubs are also great to plant in the fall because the cooler weather allows the roots to take, while hot weather dries them out. Decorate your garden area with a few flowering shrubs.
Bulbs are fantastic to plant in the fall. Planting bulbs in the fall will create a garden of lasting memories. Many will bloom every spring for years to come. Bulbs are great to give as decorated boxed gifts. They represent eternal happiness and make a lovely addition to almost any garden. Try planting tulips and hyacinths. These need some cold weather to bloom properly.
Fall is the best time to plant perennials and roses. If you plant these during the cooler weather, then the root growth will be ready to take up the water during the hotter spring temperatures.
Container plants are also fantastic to plant in the fall. Much less worries by planting these in the fall rather than the summer. In the summer you have to continuously worry about giving them enough water, or else they will dry out.
Bulbs do best, but most perennial seeds can be planted in the fall for the following season.
Carrots are great to plant in the fall as you can leave them in the ground during the cold weather. Just be sure to get them in early enough while the ground is still warm, at least 60 days before you plan on harvesting them, because they need this time to mature.
Enjoy planting in the fall. The weather is not too hot, and the foliage is gorgeous.
