Portland, Oregon-based design house Bambu sources bamboo in China, where local woodworkers and artisans create a handmade collection of garden tools that includes a lightweight hand fork, trowel, and plant markers:
Above: Bambu’s collection includes (from L) bamboo garden markers, a trowel, and a fork. All are available for purchase individually or as a kit. A Gardening Kit includes all three (plus a spool of twine) and is on sale, marked down to $27 from $33.75.
Above: With flared tines, the garden fork is meant to loosen and fluff soil: “great for mixing materials into the soil, turning compost piles, weeding and harvesting root crops like carrots and potatoes,” says Bambu.
Above: Shaped from a single piece of bamboo, an 11-inch Garden Fork is $9 and comes with a waxed cotton loop so you can hang it easily from a peg in a shed.
Above: A set of six 7-inch bamboo Garden Markers is made from certified-organic bamboo; $8.
Above: A lightweight 11-inch Garden Trowel “is surprisingly really durable,” says Bambu. “Capable for all soils types. Ideal for breaking up earth, digging small holes. Especially good for planting and weeding, mixing in natural fertilizer or transplanting.” It is $9.
Above: Available in four colors, a 426-foot spool of waxed Hemp Twine is $7.75.
