I am a nature lover and spend most of my time in my indoor garden. I have covered my kitchen gallery with all organic herbs and vegetables. I believe that if we consume organic fruits and vegetables in our daily diet, our body will stay fit and healthy. Organic foods are chemical free and good for the health. You will find fresh herbs like oregano, chives, chervil, bay and basil, salad greens, chilies and cherry tomatoes in my kitchen garden.
There are many benefits of all these grown herbs. Salad greens are very nutritious and good in taste. Cherry tomatoes are small sized tomatoes and are very nutritious. They are rich in proteins, fiber, minerals and vitamins. You can add them with other vegetables for health benefits. They also contain an antioxidant called lycopene which lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The compounds in cherry tomatoes protect against skin damage, osteoporosis caused by ultraviolet rays and brain disorders.
Bay has medicinal properties. They are best for curing wounds and diabetes. Its leaves have astringent properties that stop discharge due to infection and help in reducing excessive sweating by illness. Basil is also called as Tulsi which has numerous advantages. One can also add it in his tea to get rid from sore throat. It has a great healing power. You can also take basil juice with honey to remove kidney stone. It also maintains the level of blood pressure and cholesterol. And last but not the least is Chervil which is mostly added as a finishing touch in stews and soups. It is a conventional medication for burns, bad dreams, and stomach upset. It is an exceptional source of antioxidants that soothes cell membranes and reduces inflammation.
All this organic vegetation needs proper nutrients, sunlight and water to grow into a healthy crop. They have different light and water requirements. It is essential to provide nutrients as per their need. As I have started indoor gardening at very small age. I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge about different herbs like which one grows better in an indoor garden and which one outside that. The best quality of a herb is that it lasts more than a year long.
I have placed basil in a pot. It requires lots of sunlight and warmth. So, I have kept it at the corner of my indoor garden so as to provide sufficient light. It is easy to grow bay and does not need lots of care. You can grow it well in a container all over the year. It is important to provide proper airy environment so that it remains healthy. I have placed it on the other side i.e. away from the reach of the people so that it gets sufficient air. Those who want to grow chervil in their garden should start in late summers as they require low light and in the temperature between 65 to 70 degrees centigrade to flourish. You can also grow chives in your garden. I have placed the leaves of chives in the pot and kept it at the coolest spot. After few days, I brought it to the brightest side and they have grown so healthy. Oregano is my favorite plant and it grows it at the end of the season by placing its seeds in the pot. Parsley grows slow, but well in the full sunlight. As I enjoy planting all these herbs in my small garden so I suggest you too to take advantage of your kitchen gallery and stay benefitted from them.
