Herbs –best For Gardening

Fresh herbs are so much tastier than the packaged kind which is causing many people to consider installing kitchen garden windows. With a garden window you can grow a variety of herbs without sacrificing any of your precious kitchen counter space. Herbs that you should include in your kitchen garden are marjoram, oregano, cilantro, parsley, thyme, rosemary, tarragon and basil. When planting basil you might want to include many varieties of basil (purple, sweet, small-leaved, lemon, licorice, etc.) Mint is also great for your kitchen garden, but because it tends to take over the area, mint is best in a container. Edible flowers and herbs for the kitchen garden can be planted in so many different styles.
Some popular herbs to consider growing are basil, chives, oregano, parsley and sage, Veggies can include green onions, lettuce, radishes and, of course, tomatoes. If you have room in your outdoor garden, some great tasting sweet corn green beans and zucchini are nice additions. Some herbs need to be kept trimmed in order to thrive, while others will react badly if you trim them too often. Sometimes you might end up having more cuttings than you need to cook with.
Remember, fresh-picked herbs will always taste better than store-bought ones and the best way to get fresh herbs is to grow your own in either a garden bed or as a container garden. Make sure you grow the herbs that you use most frequently for cooking, in either a container or garden close to the kitchen door, if possible. Fresh herbs straight from your very own plants makes everything you cook taste delicious. Fresh herbs can be expensive as well. So, doing some indoor gardening and growing your own herbs and spices allows you to have them whenever you want without spending a lot of money.
