A pond is a body of water that can be natural or man made. Many of the natural ponds abound with floating pond plants and other living things. There are some plants that are more suitable for some bodies of water than others while there are also some that will die when they are not in a suitable habitat or environment. A floating pond plant is best for ponds with less movement or current in the water. Man made ponds will be more attractive with a floating pond plant or two in the surface of the water.

There are many of these that are the flowering kind and these add more beauty to the still pond than others. Pond plants can also fill up entire ponds which may be beautiful for some people but others do not like these. Basic Needs

The basic needs of the fish and other inhabitants of the pond are also addressed when there are floating pond plants. Some fish enjoy the shelter that the floating pond plant allows them. The water can heat up if the pond is not as deep as it should be and if the pond is not as wide which is where the floating pond plant acts as a shield from the heat and the rays of the sun. Not only does the plant supply shelter for the adult fish but some of the fish also lay there eggs on and around the plant and its roots.

The floating pond plant can also provide some form of food for the inhabitants of the pond. Some fish and other animals eat some parts of the plants as well the insects that may come to rest on the plant above the water. A floating pond plant can be both beautiful and beneficial for the owner of the pond and the living things in the pond.
