Have a Long Island painting project that you have been wanting to get done for awhile? You’d rather buy a coat for your wife to make her forget that you need to apply one to your house, I’m sure. Or, maybe you’re inside a new home and you don’t know what to do with the rooms yet. Or maybe you need to paint your office to match your profession.
Whatever your reasons, you need skilled New York painters and you need them now. Before you jump the gun and hire the first set of names in the phone book you need to consider some things. You have dozens of contractors to choose from on Long Island, so there is no shortage of them. Who is the most experienced? Which of them is best suited to the job you need done? Before you decide on any contractor consider the following few things:
1. Take a look at buildings similar to yours – if we are talking about your home, obviously you would want to look at your neighbors’ houses. If the work was done by a contractor and you like what you see, find out the contractor’s name and phone number. If we are talking about your office, you may want to look at buildings similar to yours and discover what commercial painting contractors the owners hired.
2. Check their level of experience – we all want a good deal, but not if it sacrifices job quality. If a contractor gives you a low figure on a quote, you may want to look closer at them. Less experience can lead to a lower price, but it can also lead to lower quality work. This is something to be avoided, if possible. His crew could be sloppy and end up damaging your home. Always question contractors on their level of experince, and ask for any references.
3. Check up on references – if the work of a contractor seems to be good, then you should check out the references they provide you. Call up the references and talk to them about the work that was done and whether or not they were satisfied. If possible, see if you can visit and see the work that was done. Be sure to ask about the condition of their property when the painters left. Did they really clean up after themselves? Was any of the property damaged as a result of their work?
