Q: Our favorite crab apple tree has finally succumbed to fireblight. We will be cutting it down and looking to replace it with another tree. Due to the difficulty of getting rid of the blight, is it safe to replace the crab apple with another crab apple? Should we choose another kind of tree? Do we need to treat the soil or wait a period of time before planting in the same place?
A: see Crabapple Resistance to Fireblight
