Antennaria spp.

Pussy-toes (Antennaria spp.) an-ten-NAR-ee-ah Genus:  Antennaria Low-growing rosettes of long gray leaves covered in fine gray hairs and gray-white flowers in spring that resemble a cat's paw make Antennaria great plants for edging, pathways, or stone walls. Noteworthy Characteristics:  Looks great in spaces between stepping stones or on a patio. It also makes a great edging plant in dry beds. It will drape dramatically when planted on rock walls. Care:  Provide full sun and very well-drained, dry to medium soil. Antennaria will falter in wet cool conditions. Propagation:  Sow seeds in open frame in spring or autumn. Divide in spring. Problems:  Phyllostica, Septoria leaf spot, powdery mildew, and smut.
