Correa Dusky Bells

Australian fuchsia (Correa 'Dusky Bells') KOR-ree-ah Synonyms:  C. 'Carmine Bells' This spreading ground cover flowers from fall into spring. Its tubular, dusky pink flowers attract hummingbirds, and its deep green leaves release a citrus scent when crushed. Tolerant of dry conditions, frost-hardy 'Dusky Bells' correa should be tip-pruned regularly to promote new growth and improve flowering. Healthy specimens can live up to 50 years or more. Noteworthy Characteristics:  Pink, fuchsia-like flowers that attract hummingbirds. Very long-lived. Care:  This correa grows in full sun to dry shade. It prefers moist, well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil. Tip-prune regularly. Propagation:  Take semi-ripe cuttings in summer. Problems:  Infrequent, but watch for scale insects in the greenhouse.
