English ivy is a self-clinging climber or trailing perennial with almost flat, palmately 5-lobed leaves. Cultivars are available with varying leaf form, color, and variegation, as well as use and climbing habit.
Care:
Thrives in fertile, rich, moist but well-drained soil, but tolerates a variety of conditions. Variegated cultivars prefer more light, and darker green varieties tolerate shade.
Propagation:
Root 4- to 6-inch semi-ripe cuttings of juvenile growth from spring to autumn.
Problems:
Bacterial spot, stem rot, fungal leaf spots, spider mites, aphids, mealybugs, and scale insect. Deer may eat the foliage.
