Ipheion uniflorum

Spring starflower (Ipheion uniflorum) Synonyms:  Tristagma uniflorum Genus:  Ipheion

Star-shaped, honey-scented, pale silvery blue flowers are borne in spring for several weeks. The leaves, to 10 inches long, are semi-erect, strap-shaped, and silver-green.

Care: 

Grow in moist but well-drained soil. Blooms well in both shade and full sun. Tolerant of different soil types. Easy to divide and transplant. Mulch in winter for added protection in the colder edge of its range.

Propagation: 

Divide in summer when dormant.

Problems: 

Slugs and snails.
