Lewisia tweedyi

(Lewisia tweedyi) Genus:  Lewisia This evergreen perennial has broad, lance-shaped mid-green leaves  to 4 inches long, tinted with purple and borne in basal rosettes up to 18 inches in diameter. Open, funnel-shaped, pink-to-cream flowers to 3 inches across appear once in early spring. Noteworthy Characteristics:  Native to Washington's Wenatchee Mountains. Very rare. Difficult to propagate. Care:  Sensitive to winter wet. Propagation:  Remove offsets in early summer. Problems:  Rust, stem rot, snails, slugs, aphids, and mealybugs.
