This native of Australia has blue-green perfoliate leaves (similar to some eucalyptus) and blue-lilac flowers on somewhat floppy stems. Digger's speedwell likes a hot location and will ramble over walls or grow through shrubs beautifully.
Noteworthy Characteristics:
Casual habit. Can take hot conditions and poor soil. Attractive, lax spikes of blue flowers in late summer.
Care:
Needs well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soil in full sun. Stake if desired.
Propagation:
Sow seed in containers in a cold frame as soon as ripe or in spring. Take semi-ripe cuttings in early or mid-summer.
Problems:
Slugs may eat new growth.
