Phlox paniculata David

Border phlox (Phlox paniculata 'David') floks pah-nik-yew-LAY-tah Genus:  Phlox

This pure white phlox is valuable in the garden because of its abundant, fragrant flowers, its sturdy growth habit, and its resistance to powdery mildew. Growing to about 3 ½ feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide, it blooms from early summer to early fall. It needs a consistently moist soil. Use it in a border or cottage garden. It will glow at dusk.

Grow in full sun or partial shade and fertile, consistently moist soil.

Propagation: 

Sow seeds in a cold frame as soon as they ripen or in spring. Take basal cuttings in spring or root cuttings in fall or winter.

Problems: 

Stem canker, rust, Southern blight, stem nematodes, leaf spots, leaf miners, caterpillars. 'David' shows resistance to powdery mildew.
