The daisy flower is considered a friendly one. It has white petals with yellow centers. Sometimes, the flowers are a rose or pink color. The daisy symbolizes purity and innocence, and it can also stand for new beginnings. The meaning of the flower is "loyal love." They are relatively easy to grow and spread well, meaning more blooms each year.
The daisy can grow to be 12 inches tall. It is a perennial with evergreen leaves that form a tuft or rosette at the base. It tends to spread as it grows and it blooms repeatedly from the summer into the fall.
Despite their appearance, daisies are not one flower. They have two types of flowers--petal-like white ray florets and disc florets. The disc florets are located at the flower's center and the ray florets are on the outside, coming from the disc. Together, they look like one flower.
Daisies require soil to have a neutral to mildly acidic pH level. They do best in 6.1 to 7.5 soil. A pH testing kit should be used to determine the pH level of soil.

Daisies need to spaced 9 to 12 inches apart because they will spread. If your summer is hot, they should be watered regularly, about every two to three days, and shaded. This is especially important during dry periods. Touch the soil and if it's dry, add water.
As the daisies start to grow, a general purpose fertilizer makes them thrive. It should be added again about a month after blooming. Use a fertilizer high in phosphorous to obtain big, bright blooms.
