A blooming peace lily is a lofty achievement for any gardener. When a peace lily blooms, this indicates a healthy and happy plant. As you enjoy the beautiful blooming flowers on your peace lily plant, make sure you do not leave them on the plant for too long. Eventually, the flowers will develop either brown spotting or they will turn a green color (similar to the leaf color). When this happens, remove the peace lily flowers to redirect plant energy toward new foliage and blossoms.
Follow the flower stalk down from the flower to the point where it connects with the leaf stem, because this is the point where you must remove the flower stalk.
Use the pruning shears to clip the flower stalk immediately above the leaf intersection without removing the leaf.
Discard the flower stalk. Watch the peace lily plant as it blooms so you can remove the spent flowers as they die to preserve the plant's energy.
