Even if you do not have a lot of outdoor space, you can still enjoy fresh strawberries by growing them in a pot. Strawberry pots are especially designed with multilevel pockets that enable you to grow the fruit. By planting the strawberries in a pot, you will create a beautiful potted plant as well as a delicious fruit to eat.
Prepare the soil. Mix 1 part potting soil with 2 parts compost in a bucket.
Add a small amount of water to moisten the soil and mix well with a garden trowel.
Fill the strawberry pot with the soil mixture, up to the first row of pockets. Pat down the soil while filing, but do not compact it.
Insert the plants through the top of the pot, positioning each plant in a bottom-row pocket. Make sure that the crown (leaves) of each plant are showing through the pocket opening and are not covered by the soil.
Add more soil to the next layer and repeat step 4, until each layer is complete.
Fill the strawberry pot with the soil mixture to the rim of the pot.
Plant 2 or 3 plants at the jar's opening, allowing a small amount of space for each plant.
