Q: We have a great crop of wild blackberries and wanted to know if it is possible to transplant some to a fence line that we have on another part of our land. If so, when is the best time to move them?
A: The best time is September, you can usually see the yellow/brown stems that had fruit this year and which will die over the winter. They can be left behind while taking the green, vigorous canes that will fruit next year on the new fence line.
