Q: Every morning, my husband’s car, which stays outside, has tiny droplets of a clear sap-like substance that is water soluble all over it. This is first year he has had this problem. Can you tell us what is happening?
A: It could be two things: guttation (“sweating”) from tree leaves or honeydew excreted by small sucking insects. I am not sure how to tell you to tell the difference, and I’m not sure you can stop the dripping anyway. My advice is to give him one of those magnetic windshield covers that can be easily put on and taken off each day.
