Q: Can you tell me what the name of the plant is in the photo?
A: It’s a mosaic plant, Fittonia albivenis. It is a very common houseplant. There are more than a dozen cultivars, which vary on their stem, vein and leaf colors.
Give yours bright light; an east-facing window is great. If the leaves begin to stretch, move it to a brighter spot. Don’t put it so near to the glass that a cold draft chills the leaves. Water when the leaves begin to droop. Fertilize very lightly every six weeks with houseplant fertilizer dissolved in water.
