Q: When backing out of the garage, I accidentally ran over a gasoline container. The gasoline spurted over a patch of lawn, making a brown area in a pretty green lawn. Is there anything I can do?
A: For fast results, remove a two inch layer of soil, replace with an inch of planting soil and lay sod on top. Scatter the contaminated soil thinly under shrubs and trees or wrap it in plastic and put it out with the garbage. Gasoline will eventually be decomposed by soil organisms but it may take months before you can plant seed.
