Q: I would like to create a perennial garden the would look nice and attract honeybees from my hive into the garden. I recently moved here from south Texas and the plants are different here. Can you advise good plants to use?
A: You can feed your bees every month of the year here in Georgia. Plants like ‘Red Giant’ mustard, carolina jessamine and holly bloom in spring. Annual salvia, cosmos, phlox and fennel give sustenance in summer. Abelia, Joe-pye weed and perennial salvia round out the later months. I found a nice list of Georgia beekeeping clubs at http://xrl.us/BEEKEEPERS (broken link)
