Q: My termite inspector has asked to come in winter. He said the yearly inspection can be done any time of the year but I have my doubts.
A: Termite expert Dan Suiter says there’s no law that says when inspections must be performed. Ideally, they should be done when termites are most active: the warmer months. However, their evidence (mud tubes) will be present even in winter. If you have a “Repair and Retreat” termite contract, the onus is on the company to prevent damage. If that is your case, let the inspector come when he wants.
