Q: I teach grades 7-12 and we’ve recently begun plans for a school garden. We want to integrate gardening into classes on biology, earth science, health, mathematics, literature, foreign language, etc. We’re enthusiastic but we need more practical knowledge.
A: This sounds like a great teaching and learning experience! Several University of Georgia Extension offices in metro Atlanta conduct a Teacher Master Gardener class each year. Teachers attend several sessions to learn basic horticulture and to get ideas on how to include gardening in their classrooms. Contact your local Extension office (1-800-ASKUGA-1) for details.
