Q: I have a rack with grow lights. I would like to plants seeds so I can grown my own flowers and then put outside. What type of potting soil should I use?

This grow light is down in my basement and has approximately 4 shelves. Obviously, I don’t want to keep the grow lights on 24/7, would it be okay just to turn it on when I get home and leave on over night?

A: I buy sterile seed starting soil and leave my lights on 16 hours per day, using a timer. Another item that has help me a lot is a soil warming mat that lies under the rack on which the seed trays are placed.
